Graveyard Blues
It started back in ‘62
Got in a fight, left him black and blue
I didn’t know that he had a gun
And that was the beginning of all of this fun
Chorus:
What can you do when your time is over?
When you’re dead but you’re not gone
Can’t feel the rain and I talk to crows
Oh I got the blues like nobody knows
Mrs. Jones visits every day
It’s been six years since he passed away
He sits on the stone and talks to his wife
And says, “Oh sweet baby have a wonderful life.”
Chorus:
What can you do when your time is over?
When you’re dead but you’re not gone
Can’t feel the rain and I talk to crows
Oh I got the blues like nobody knows
I don’t like when they come around
And put a new one into the ground
When they’re done is when I start cryin’
Sing with me baby this song for the dyin’
Chorus:
What can you do when your time is over?
When you’re dead but you’re not gone
Can’t feel the rain and I talk to crows
Oh I got the blues like nobody knows
I got the blues like nobody knows

The Story...
Graveyard Blues has received an Honorable
Mention in the Unisong International Songwriting Contest in the
Blues Category for 2007!
(Here's where we are on
the list.)
Marcy and Giasone have been to New Orleans a couple of times
(so far). The last time they were in New Orleans, just before
Katrina hit, they bought a couple of T-shirts. Over a year later
when they were coming up with ideas for songs on this CD, Marcy
walked into the kitchen wearing her T-shirt. On the front is a
skeleton wearing a hat, playing the guitar while sitting on an
amp (which could look a little like a greavestone). Below the
skeleton and stone it reads, "Graveyard Blues." The
best Blues they have ever heard was in New Orleans and it just
felt natural to give it that bit of flavor.
